Recap - May Monthly Meeting

Hello D20 Community, 

CEC 20 held its monthly meeting last night at M.S. 936 Arts of Third! Thank you very much to the staff and Principal Frank who was very helpful and happy to host our meeting. Presentation from The Office of Food and Nutrition

District Supervisors for Office of Food and Nutrition Services in District 20, Andrew Goodman and Annecia Virgo Shakes provided an update to the community regarding summer community feeders, OFNS Spring Survey, and employment opportunities. 

Superintendent Report

In response to many parents expressing concern around safety and communication at P.S. 176 The Ovington School, Dr Pretto announced that in unison with the Division of School Facilities, School Construction Authority, and community, the district is committed to taking all necessary steps to address safety concerns. Dr. Pretto also provided an overview of the Superintendent Honors Algebra Program and announced the introduction of a pilot Geometry curriculum in middle schools in response to Resolution 4 by CEC 20. Finally, Superintendent Pretto presented an overview of the Summer Rising Application Priority.  

Resolutions 

CEC 20 voted to approve Resolution 5 demanding reform of education council elections and The Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE). CEC 20 also approved Resolution 6 urging the inclusion of state test scores in admissions for screened NYC middle schools. Information and voting records can be found in the attached files.
