March Monthly Meeting Recap

Hello D20 Community, 

CEC 20 held its monthly meeting last Wednesday at P.S. 180 - The SEEAL Academy! Thank you to everyone who joined our meeting, whether you were with us in person or online! We are very thankful to the staff at P.S. 180 including Principal Sacco, who graciously hosted our meeting which included several student performances. We had some really important discussions, including - 

Guest Speakers 

We had the several political officials join our meeting to speak directly with the community including Assemblymember William Colton and City Council Member Alexa Aviles. CEC 20 was also elated to include a presentation from High School student Georgia who advocated for mandatory CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training for middle and elementary school students in NYC public schools. 

Superintendent Report

Dr. Pretto introduced Dr. Lucia Perez Medina as the new Deputy Superintendent for District 20 and provided the annual Fair Student Funding Report. 

Council Member Dr. Kelly Clancy

Dr. Kelly Clancy provided the community with an overview of the issues stemming from increasing reliance on screens, AI in classrooms, and lack of consent in experimental AI teaching technology.
