CEC 20 held its monthly meeting last night at I.S. 223 The Montauk School! Thank you to everyone who joined our meeting, whether you were with us in person or online! We are very grateful to the staff at I.S. 223, especially Principal Frank who kindly hosted our meeting. We had some really important discussions, including:
Guest Speakers
CEC 20 was fortunate to have various speakers at last night's meeting including Stephan M. Hirsch, CISO’s Senior Cybersecurity and Chief Policy Advisor, Moumita Zaman from the Office of Multilingual Learners, and Panel for Educational Policy Chairperson Gregory Faulkner. These speakers each focused on different subjects, bringing insightful presentations to the community.
Resolution 3 - Equip Every Teacher and Staffer with a Silent Panic Button System
CEC 20 approved Resolution 3. With the implementation of the new Cell Phone Ban, CEC 20 asks that NYCPS equip teachers and staff with a silent panic button system that enables immediate and silent communication with emergency responders.
Superintendent Report
Dr. David Pretto spoke on High School Applications, which opened October 7th, digital administration of the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test, and announced the District 20 Middle School Fair on Wednesday, October 22nd (flyer attached). Speaking on the recent Subway Surfing Incidents, Superintendent Pretto invited Kevin Dantzler, a member of Safety Youth Development, Chantel Cabrera, a member of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and NYPD Neighborhood Coordinated Officer from Transit District 34.
